Pride Centre events

We organise a series of special queer community events, such as Coming Out Day, which occur throughout the year. Let us know if you would like to be a part of these events, as a volunteer, organiser, producer, sound or light technician, artist, entertainer or camp participant!

Coming Out Day - (November)
Since its beginnings in Washington, D.C. in 1985, Coming Out Day has grown to become a world-wide event, its aim to increase pride in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and to promote positive visibility as a healthy alternative to "the closet." Coming Out Day is also a celebration of the attributes of courage, integrity and positivity that being out entails. Gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transpeople and their friends, family and supporters are all invited to come out on the third Sunday in November to celebrate and enjoy the entertainment.

Spring Festival - (October)
As part of our role in fostering queer culture in Auckland, the Pride Centre organises an annual arts festival. This is a celebration of arts and culture within the gay/les/bi/trans community.

Bacchanalia - (May)
Similar to the Spring Festival, Bacchanalia is the other celebration of the visual arts which is organised by the Pride Centre.

Law Reform Day - (July)
On the 9th of July, 1986, the Homosexual Law Reform Bill was passed. This is an annual event to commemorate this milestone for the LGBT community.
