InterPride 2001 - overview

Representatives from the Auckland Pride Centre and HERO to the 1999 Interpride Conference have been successful in their bid to host the Interpride Conference in October 2001.

Interpride is the international association of Pride organisations; close to 200 delegates gathered in Glasgow to attend workshops and exchange information.

Fully supported by the delegation from Sydney Mardi Gras; Angela Main (for HERO) and Edward Bennett (for Auckland Pride) presented a joint bid on behalf of their organisations to host the 2001 Conference.

This Event and the subsequent publicity will be good for the Gay Community and gay businesses of Auckland in particular, and New Zealand in general, with the overseas delegates touring the country before travelling on to Sydney for the annual Sleaze Ball.

Pride and HERO will work closely over the coming months to organise this Conference and facilitate community events around it.
