Supporting Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay & Transgender Communities

Venue

Strategic Plan 2000-2002

Mission Statement
The maximum empowerment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people and communities in the greater Auckland region in accordance with Te Tiriti O Waitangi

The year ahead: 2001

  1. The New Year: By the beginning of the year 2001, Auckland PRIDE should be located in its new premises; it will have become more prominent in the perception of the LGBT community of Auckland through these new premises but also because of public events successfully staged in 2000.
  2. Events
    1. January: If feasible, an Art exhibition could be inaugurated this year. SUMMER (possibly a predominately Female Art Event).
    2. February: Should there be (as is likely) a HERO Parade this year, we will enter a float.
    3. July: As well as the events inaugurated last July, if feasible Auckland PRIDE could resurrect the popular PRIDE stories this year.
Rainbow Youth should be persuaded to have an event.
The Gay/Lesbian Film Festival should be asked to participate.
    4. Sept:
      SPRING! September 1st.
    5. October: We will be hosting the World InterPRIDE conference this month. Over 300 delegates will come to Auckland and we will be responsible for them. Working with HERO, Rainbow Youth, Lesbian/Gay Welfare and presumably other groups such as GABA ,we will have to provide billets, book hotel rooms, provide volunteers to guide the visitors and organise the workshops and events.
This will be the most important Queer gathering in New Zealand’s history, and Auckland PRIDE members will be responsible for its success.
    6. November: Coming OUT Day 2001
